Azra Becevic Sarenkapa, Steering Board member of the Balkan Museum Network and Museum Consultant at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented the AURORA Project at the “Fighting the Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property in the Western Balkans” training, held in Tirana, Albania, from October 21 to 25, 2024.

UNESCO organized this five-day training, which gathered key stakeholders across the Western Balkans, including representatives from the Ministries of Culture, Justice, and Home Affairs, customs agencies, and heritage professionals. The event supported the EU Western Balkans Strategy’s goals of fostering cooperation, regional reconciliation, and progress toward European integration.

Azra shared insights from the Balkan Museum Network’s mission under the theme “Together We Can Do Better”, introducing AURORA’s contributions in the fight against cultural property trafficking to national actors and cultural heritage professionals in attendance.
