The restoration studio of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze (BNCF) was founded in connection with the flood of 4 November 1966, thanks to the contribution of Italian and foreign staff who came together to deal with the emergency. Since its inception, it has always set itself the goal of achieving the highest quality standards in restoration work. In addition to the restoration of flooded books, its work focuses on the conservation of all of the Library’s collections, which include a wide variety of book and non-book materials, including manuscripts and printed volumes on paper and parchment, (but also leather, wood, textiles, metals, photographic reproductions and artists’ books, etc.).
It is within this ideal framework that the BNCF, the European project GREENART and the aDESSO project organised, on the 27th and 28th of April, two days of conference and training on the use of innovative materials and methods for restoration. Also, AURORA project has been presented.
A big thank you to Alessandro Sidoti for the perfect organisation!
