On December 5, 2024, the AURORA project was showcased at the CERIS Workshop on Innovation Against Trafficking of Cultural Goods. This event took place at the BAO Center in Brussels, Belgium, and was organized by the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS).

The workshop brought together a wide array of participants, including security professionals, customs and law enforcement authorities, cultural goods market operators, policymakers, and innovators. Discussions revolved around European research and innovative approaches to combat trafficking and illicit trade of cultural goods across EU borders. Key themes included the detection of threats within goods and services flows and the development of risk assessment strategies.

The AURORA project presentation, delivered by Lujza Varga from the Hungarian National Museum and Jove Pargovski from the Balkan Museum Network, emphasized its innovative tools and contributions to this critical field, aligning with EU efforts to strengthen the fight against cultural heritage trafficking.

The CERIS workshop further highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to identify capability gaps and implement effective solutions in combating illicit trade. AURORA continues to play a vital role in fostering these international partnerships.
